Belgian painter and designer Maria Scarpulla creates minimalist objects that resemble pictorial works. There is a powerful interplay between form and colour in her generally abstract works, in an expression that is both constructed and spontaneous. Her collection of Tramonto sconces grew out of a series of paintings. The artist began by painting these colourful geometric shapes, which were later transformed into sconces. Even after adding the technicalities required for a lamp, Tramonto sconces faithfully reproduce the original painting, with the addition of a soft halo of light. The Italian name Tramonto means sunset. The halo surrounding the lamp is reminiscent of the bright horizon after a sunset. When designing an object, Maria questions its obvious function, consciously looking for a way to transcend its basic utility. In this way, a wall lamp becomes a multifunctional object, serving to light, create atmosphere, or simply to decorate. In Maria's interpretation, the object becomes as changeable as its many functions. This collection consists of 6 wall lights, in different shapes and colours that can be easily combined to create a beautiful composition.
The minimalist and expressive lamps of the Tramonto collection are made of steel and have an integrated LED. The intensity can be adjusted with a remote control.
