Each unique piece is still made by hand by one of the thirty craftsmen in the workshop in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. 
Most of the ceramists in the workshop are former Tibetan monks whose gestures are as precise as they are delicate.

The white glaze reveals the brown clay in an irregular pattern. The manufacture of these ceramic objects is a long and delicate process. 
Each craftsman makes a piece in its entirety. Each piece bears the initials of Astier de Villatte and the craftsman who made it.

The collaboration between Astier de Villatte and John Derian seems obvious, as their imaginations complement each other. A fashionable New York designer, John Derian navigates between the very trendy East Side and a bohemian universe with a recomposed past.
